After being another victim of the economy, I decided to do what I love – writing.  I started writing samples and posting them to my blog, but then I realized that my article writing could get better visibility on an article directory.  I’ve been writing articles and web content for about a year, and I’ve built up a clientele and long-term clients.  I thought I’d put together some basic expectations and information for other article writers to follow.

Article Writers Need a Home

When you decide to start writing articles and web content, your clients will probably ask you to post the articles to article directories.  The advantage to posting them is that you showcase the articles under your own name.  When you apply for a new writing gig, just point the potential client to your existing article writing and expertise.

Why do Website Owners Need Article Writers

There are plenty of very expensive advertising methods to get your business out there, but hiring an article writer is the most affordable way to receive link backs and publish content on the Internet.  As an article writer, you can give clients keyword rich articles with good SEO standards for readers and web crawlers alike.  Basically, article writers are a way for website owners to publish content about their niche and host links for search engines like Google to pickup and distribute.

Article Writers Tips

When writing articles for your client, keep the keyword percentage at 2%-3%.  This helps create a legible article for readers, but it also creates a better index rating from search engines.  Although a lot of bolded text will cause the article to be rejected by article directories, using formatted titles helps SEO for your client and makes it more easily read by browsers of the site.

Whatever you do, do not “keyword stuff” articles.  It makes your writing look poor and creates a bad reputation for website owners.  Keyword stuffed articles will also be rejected by most article directories.
